If you’re working in Lightroom, right click on your photo and choose Edit In > Edit in Adobe Photoshop. With the photo open in Photoshop, drag and drop a grain plate over your photo. Scale the grain layer to your liking. Select the grain layer, and in the Layers panel, change the blend mode from Normal to Overlay via the drop down menu. You can then change the layer opacity to adjust the grain’s overall visibility.

We recommend using the blend mode Overlay with the layer opacity at 100% for most cases. For a more subtle look, set the blend mode to Soft Light. For a stronger look, set the blend mode to Linear Light and the layer opacity to 40%. Save the document to update changes in Lightroom.
